Dr. JoAnne Lopes is not only a renowned board-certified plastic surgeon but also a mother of three, uniquely positioning her to understand and respond to cosmetic concerns from a woman’s perspective. With years of extensive surgical training and practice, she has made an indelible mark in the field of plastic surgery, offering both men and women sensitive, caring, and tailored treatment plans.

Recognized as “The Botox® Cosmetic Queen” in her geographic area, Dr. Lopes has an avid interest in skin care and ageless beauty. She’s an expert in various skin resurfacing techniques such as CO2 and Erbium laser, TCA peels, and Obagi peels. In addition to her expertise in facial cosmetic surgery, she’s known for her ingenuity in body contouring, utilizing the latest modalities in tummy tucks, lifts, traditional suction-assisted liposuction (SAL), and breast surgery.

Dr. Lopes earned her B.S.N. in Nursing, graduating Cum Laude from Old Dominion University in 1979. She completed her M.D. at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1989, followed by an internship and residency in General Surgery at the University of Connecticut. Her fellowships in Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery were completed at the Medical College of Virginia and Eastern Virginia Medical School. She is licensed to practice in Maryland and Virginia and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Her professional memberships include fellowships and active memberships in respected societies such as the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Plastic Surgery, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, American Medical Women’s Association, and Virginia Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Dr. Lopes has been honored with recognitions such as Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Life Membership in The National Registry of Who’s Who. Her commitment to community service is evident through her work with Operation Smile and the YMCA Silver Beach Camp Doctor program.

With her contributions as an investigator in notable Botox® Cosmetic studies and various presentations, research, and chapters on subjects ranging from liposuction to anti-aging skin products, Dr. Lopes continues to stay at the forefront of her field.
